Which one should you choose?
Choose Vantrue Element 2 if you:
- Prioritize video clarity on the front and rear views, especially for highway and urban driving.
- Live in colder Canadian regions where temperatures frequently drop below -10°C.
- Want a dashcam with a capacitor instead of a lithium battery for longer durability.
- Prefer a slightly larger screen for easier playback and setup.
Choose Vantrue Nexus 4S if you:
- Need comprehensive 3-channel coverage including an interior camera, useful for rideshare drivers or additional cab monitoring.
- Require more advanced parking mode features like time lapse and continuous monitoring with better sensitivity settings.
- Are less concerned with extreme cold weather operation or plan to use the dashcam primarily in milder climates.
- Want a compact setup with a slightly smaller display and more discrete mounting.
FAQs
Which dashcam is better for Canadian winters?
The Vantrue Element 2 is more suited for harsh Canadian winters due to its capacitor-based power supply and cold temperature rating down to -20°C. This reduces issues caused by traditional lithium batteries struggling to perform in low temperatures, ensuring reliable start-up in cold weather.
How do parking modes differ between the two models?
The Nexus 4S offers an advanced parking mode with motion detection, time lapse, and 3-channel surveillance, providing continuous protection even when the vehicle is parked. In comparison, the Element 2 uses motion and impact sensors with buffered recording, which is effective but less feature-rich. Buyers who prioritize extensive parking coverage may prefer the Nexus 4S.
